Photo Friday

It looks like I’ve been hit full on with pregnancy brain/mom brain today since I completely forgot it was Friday and I needed to do a photo post. Luckily we have a system in place for Chris to text me a reminder, which usually happens just as I’m finishing up the post for the week. Lewis also seems to be cooperating by having a nice long nap so I (hopefully) have time to finish this before he wakes. It’s not surprising since we had a busy morning and he also took a while to fall asleep today. I could hear him beingย very busy in his bed pretending to be a fork lift, and an excavator, and a dump truck, and I’m sure all sorts of other things too. He is on a construction kick right now because they have been paving in front of our apartments this week and we also took the book Diggers Go out from the library today. (All the books in this series are a lot of fun for toddlers with great pictures and full of fun sound effects. There is a trains one, diggers, planes, and trucks. Lewis enjoys them all.)

We went to the library this morning despite the fact that all I’ve wanted to do all week is sit on the couch. Baby is due Monday, and as I mentioned last week (I think) I am definitely feeling very pregnant now! I get tired if I’m on my feet for much longer than ten minutes, though it actually seems worse when I am just standing in one place (dish washing, prepping dinner, playing outside with Lewis, etc.) than when I’m actually walking and moving. So, I decided we would go to the library since we had a book due next Tues. and also it just seemed like a good idea to get both Lewis and myself out of the house. We had fun and came home with a pile of new books as usual. (Most of which we will read once or twice and then Lewis will declare he doesn’t like them anymore.) After the library we went to Starbucks for a treat despite the fact that it was almost lunch time. Lewis picked his favorite, a cake pop, and I got my decaf coffee frappuccino and we were both happy to sit and relax outside for a little while. Then we came home and had our real lunch which consisted of leftovers for me and a whole heap of peanut butter licked off apple slices for Lewis. I think he may have eaten a few bites of apple too, but mostly he would just live on peanut butter if he could.

Anyway, I know you are all here for the pictures and not my babbling, so here is the cuteness for the week:

I got my big belly into the pool last weekend for a little swimming and it actually wasn't freezing cold, but now the temperatures have dropped down all this week and will be a bit lower next week too, so I will probably be avoiding the cold water again for now!

Happy springy Friday everyone! We’ve had a couple days of slightly cooler weather, but no rain yet except a bit in the nights so we’ve still been getting out to play very frequently! Lewis and our neighbor J have been having a lot of fun playing with chalk, squirty bottles of water, and squirt guns (squirting both the chalk and each other.) A few days ago Lewis and I also mixed up a batch of fizzy squirty sidewalk chalk paint.ย We took it outside to share with J and the two boys had an absolute blast. They first had a lot of fun squirting designs all over the sidewalk (and L all over himself. Thankfully after a quick scrub and a soak there were no stains in his shirt.) They were even more excited when I brought out the bottles of vinegar after the paint had all been squirted! This is definitely an activity we will be repeating in the future.

This weekend will also be a fun and busy one for us. Tomorrow is our little town celebration of Niskaday, which we have had a lot of fun with the past two years. We’ll go to the parade in the morning, and then head out soon after for the fair. Our main goals will be to get some tasty lunch and see the petting zoo. We’ll also explore whether Lewis is interested in trying any of the rides this year, and perhaps have fun watching the clown on stilts since that was one of Lewis’ favorite things last year. I’ll also try to get a peek around the craft booth, possibly while Chris and Lewis are off playing and exploring. Once we are done with Niskaday we are also looking forward to an overnight visit from a couple of friends. Lewis is very excited at the prospect of seeing Daddy and Aaron playing some video games (he’s hoping for Skylanders and Mario) and also is planning to show off some of his toys. ๐Ÿ™‚

And here are your photos for the week!

Strawberries, bananas, Vanilla Wafers, and melted chocolate for dipping. This was originally planned as a Mother's Day treat but we were too busy eating other yummy things so Lewis and I enjoyed it together the next day.

Happy Friday! Life is continuing on pretty much as usual here. Lewis and I are spending as much time as possible out in the warm and sunny weather. We are also missing Daddy as he continues to work long hours for the next few weeks. Lewis tries to make up for lost time by delaying his bedtime in every way possible and continually calling Daddy back in to the bedroom to help with completely imaginary and un-needed tasks.

Our main activities this week have included picking hundreds of dandelions, eating (homemade) popsicles, and using a squeezy bottle of water to squirt chalk drawings (and ants) on the sidewalk.

We went to the mall last weekend and of course Lewis had to try one of the little rides there. We don't go often and to him the mall was like a whole new experience. He was especially excited to ride the elevator and escalators! He also enjoyed that one of the shoe stores had balls he could play with, though he wasn't a fan of trying on new shoes.

Happy Friday again everyone! Our lovely spring weather has taken a bit of a turn this week with rain off and on for a few days and chilly temperatures yesterday and today. We’ve even had a few snow flurries! We’ve still managed to get outside a bit each day but it is less enticing with this weather. Lewis’ focus when playing outside has shifted from digging in the mud to looking under rocks and clumps of dirt/grass that the plows dug up in a hunt for worms. We also conducted a worm rescue mission one day when we went out to puddle splash and Lewis noticed all the worms in puddles and on the pavement. He was very focused on collecting any worm that was still wiggling and bringing it safely back to the grass/dirt. Today while we were out he was telling the robins not to eat any worms because the worms are his friends.

Since we’ve been a bit more cooped up inside this week we’ve been keeping busy with some art and sensory play. We’ve played with rice in the sensory bin, blew bubbles, painted, colored, and tried out a new playdoh recipe. It looks like the weather will be warming up a bit again this weekend, so we are looking forward to the chance to get back outside and burn off a little more of the endless toddler energy! (Bonus: I can send Lewis outside with daddy while I find somewhere comfortable to sit and put my feet up. I’m in week 33 of this pregnancy and starting to feel rather whale-like.)

We are still very happy about the arrival of spring, and the weather just keeps getting springier and springier! Crocuses and daffodils are blooming, the grass is starting to turn green, people can be seen out walking at every time of the day, the sun is shining and the birds are singing! Lewis is absolutely loving everything about being outside from dirt and mud and sticks to finally having other kids around to play with. We have been spending as much time as possible outside. As usual my housework has suffered as a result, but I always seem to find some reason not to keep up with all that pesky cooking and cleaning. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Happy Friday once again everyone! We have been enjoying some lovely family time recently. We had a very nice trip to VT where we got to see all of my family, and Lewis adored having so many people to play with and keep him entertained, plus the benefit of a nice yard to play in. We got back here Tuesday and Chris had work the next two days but he got a surprise day off today, which means an extra day I can put him to work helping get this apartment back into some semblance of cleanliness. ๐Ÿ˜‰ It also means extra fun times spent playing together as a family. This morning we went out and puddle-splashed for a while, and Lewis also had an excellent time chasing Daddy around the house pretending they both were monsters. As might be expected most of these photos are from our trip to VT, with a few from the past couple days in our own home.

Happy spring and Happy Easter everyone! We have had a lovely week of beautiful weather and Easter-themed activities. But, you won’t see any Easter photos here because I took too many photos this week and they will need a post of their own. Not sure when they will be posted since Lewis could wake from his nap any time now, but I will attempt to get them up either this afternoon or this evening. We leave tomorrow for a lovely long-weekend in VT where we will get to see my entire (giant) family. Some of Lewis’ aunties and uncles we haven’t seen since my sister’s wedding in October, so it will be nice to see everyone again! And Lewis, of course, is looking forwards to a visit from the Easter Bunny. ๐Ÿ™‚

I finally got around to ordering a roll of butcher paper for art projects, so I had Lewis put it to the test with some markers. We still need to test how well it holds up to paint, but we have been too busy playing outside all week!
