Photo Friday – Special Edition!

Happy Friday everyone! This week you get a special batch of photos showing off our beautiful new baby girl! Baby Anya joined our family at 9:00pm on Tuesday. She takes after her brother weighing a hefty 9 lb 2 oz, and was 20 inches long. She is, of course, absolutely perfect. 🙂

We were lucky that my mom was able to come out and stay with Lewis while Chris and I were at the hospital. Lewis loved having Grandma here and was sad when she had to go back home yesterday, but he’s looking forward to another visit sometime soon from her and Grandpa.

You get lots of photos today because I couldn’t choose which were best.

Photo Friday

It looks like I’ve been hit full on with pregnancy brain/mom brain today since I completely forgot it was Friday and I needed to do a photo post. Luckily we have a system in place for Chris to text me a reminder, which usually happens just as I’m finishing up the post for the week. Lewis also seems to be cooperating by having a nice long nap so I (hopefully) have time to finish this before he wakes. It’s not surprising since we had a busy morning and he also took a while to fall asleep today. I could hear him being very busy in his bed pretending to be a fork lift, and an excavator, and a dump truck, and I’m sure all sorts of other things too. He is on a construction kick right now because they have been paving in front of our apartments this week and we also took the book Diggers Go out from the library today. (All the books in this series are a lot of fun for toddlers with great pictures and full of fun sound effects. There is a trains one, diggers, planes, and trucks. Lewis enjoys them all.)

We went to the library this morning despite the fact that all I’ve wanted to do all week is sit on the couch. Baby is due Monday, and as I mentioned last week (I think) I am definitely feeling very pregnant now! I get tired if I’m on my feet for much longer than ten minutes, though it actually seems worse when I am just standing in one place (dish washing, prepping dinner, playing outside with Lewis, etc.) than when I’m actually walking and moving. So, I decided we would go to the library since we had a book due next Tues. and also it just seemed like a good idea to get both Lewis and myself out of the house. We had fun and came home with a pile of new books as usual. (Most of which we will read once or twice and then Lewis will declare he doesn’t like them anymore.) After the library we went to Starbucks for a treat despite the fact that it was almost lunch time. Lewis picked his favorite, a cake pop, and I got my decaf coffee frappuccino and we were both happy to sit and relax outside for a little while. Then we came home and had our real lunch which consisted of leftovers for me and a whole heap of peanut butter licked off apple slices for Lewis. I think he may have eaten a few bites of apple too, but mostly he would just live on peanut butter if he could.

Anyway, I know you are all here for the pictures and not my babbling, so here is the cuteness for the week:

I got my big belly into the pool last weekend for a little swimming and it actually wasn't freezing cold, but now the temperatures have dropped down all this week and will be a bit lower next week too, so I will probably be avoiding the cold water again for now!

Photo Friday

It’s Friday, which means it’s time for more cute Lewis photos! This week has been all about things that Lewis can keep busy with while I sit on my butt near by, which has looked like a lot of playing out in front of our apartment with me observing from my lawn chair. Last weekend also included a lot of outside time, but Chris was home so Lewis got a bit more interaction.

The pool opened last weekend and even though we knew the water would be frigid Chris and Lewis decided to give it a try (while I sat in a comfy chair watching the action.) Lewis was rather cautious at first, but eventually decided he loved the water. He also found it rather fascinating that there were bugs in the water. He wanted to rescue all the live ones, and wanted daddy to swish away the dead ones. I joined them to watch (and take pictures) the first day they went, but when they decided to go again the next day I didn’t tag along. It sounds like they had even more fun that day though since they found some pool noodles to play with and Lewis even attempted some solo swimming while hanging on a noodle! I’ll probably send the two of them out again this weekend if the weather is warm enough, although the idea of a freezing cold swim isn’t quite appealing to me at the moment.

Photo Friday

Happy sunny Friday everyone! We have all finally started to emerge from the cold that was working its way through our household (minus some lingering coughs) and have also had a full week of beautiful play-outside-every-day weather! Lewis is loving puddle jumping, squelching through mud, and finding sticks and other treasures that are emerging from the snow drifts. Mama is loving not having to bundle us in so many layers, longer and more frequent outside play times, and sidewalks that are actually navigable by stroller! (There’s a bit of an ice sheet still left in some places, so at times it is more like ice skating down the sidewalk, but it is a huge huge improvement over lumpy messy frozen inches of snow and ice and slush that a stroller had no chance of rolling over.

The combination of daylight savings time and miserable coldy toddler did throw nap time and bedtime into a bit of a rough patch for about a week, but we are back on track now and Lewis is sleeping just as well as ever. Mama, on the other hand, is fighting with the lovely fun of pregnancy insomnia and lying awake in the night thinking of all sorts of random things plus occasionally being kept awake by the kicks and acrobatics of a growing baby. At least I can still fit in a nap for myself during Lewis’ nap time most days if I need it!

Photo Friday

It’s Friday again folks, so time for some photos and a quick update! We have a cold making its way through our household, so things have been a bit quiet and lazy here this week. Chris had it first but it was pretty mild and didn’t seem to affect him too much besides a bit of a cough and sore throat. I should have known something was up with Lewis when he didn’t want to go to the library Tuesday, and then complained about being outside to play despite nice weather. Wednesday morning saw him complaining of his throat hurting, and then the snot began to flow (and hasn’t stopped.) It’s rough because I know he’d feel 100 times better if he’d just blow his nose or let me clear it out with the snot sucker, but either suggestion sends him into a fit of yelling and tears which just makes his nose even worse. Instead we are left wiping the dribbles (which are announced with a squawk or a screech) every few minutes, and applying Vaseline in an attempt to cut down on the soreness from so much wiping. Then I started feeling a tingle in my throat last night, which is worse today. So, it has been lots of tea and sitting on the couch snuggling and watching movies for us this week! We’ve missed out on going out to play on some nice “warm” days, but luckily it is warming up even more this weekend and next week by which point we should all be feeling much better.

An Announcement!

Well, I think it is time to finally tell the blog world: I’m pregnant! I keep feeling a little silly for not having posted about this yet, but I’ve been posting so little in general I just haven’t seemed to get around to it. And I wanted it to be a dedicated post of its own, not just a blurb on one of my Photo Fridays.

We’re 20 weeks along and just had our second ultrasound on Wednesday. It’s a girl!

This is the less-alien looking of our ultrasound photos. It looks pretty similar to one we have of Lewis, but I imagine most peoples blurry ultrasound photos of baby-in-profile look pretty similar?

I’ve been extremely exhausted pretty much all along in this pregnancy, which partially accounts for the fact that I’ve been doing hardly any blogging. Lewis is still a great napper and naps at least 2-3 hours a day which normally is an awesome time for me to blog, do housework, create art, drink tea, etc. but for the past several months these activities have all been pushed downwards in priority while I use his nap time to have a nap of my own. I can probably count on my two hands the number of days since October when I’ve missed a nap. I kept waiting for that magical second trimester energy to show up, but apparently I’m not so lucky this time. I am extremely thankful to have not suffered from any morning sickness though! And also to have a wonderful and understanding husband who helps out with things when I can’t keep up and doesn’t mind me collapsing exhausted into bed early each night.

We are all very excited about this new baby joining our family in June. Even Lewis seems interested and excited. He gives my tummy plenty of snuggles and kisses, and likes to pretend he is a doctor giving me an ultrasound. 🙂
