Photo Friday

Happy Friday! I’m a bit later than usual posting today, but that may end up being the new norm. It turns out it’s a lot harder to find blogging time with a newborn in the house. 😉 Normally I’d post during Lewis’ nap time, but today it was much more important to have a lovely two hour nap of my own.

Things are still going along pretty much as they have been. Anya is cute and sweet and sleepy, though we do seem to be seeing her eyes open a bit more each day. So far she seems much more easy-going than Lewis was as a baby, which I am definitely enjoying! She is quite happy to be laid down on a blanket on the floor for 5 or 10 minutes while I take care of the laundry or help Lewis with something. She also seems to enjoy tummy time, which was something Lewis always hated.

Lewis is still adoring her. He seems to think of her as something akin to a kitten – mostly there to be cute and to get petted. Sometimes we have to remind him that she is a person and might night like her face and cheeks to be touched constantly! He’s very gentle though and it is sweet to see how much he already loves her. He is also of course still his usual wild, silly, imaginative self. He has been having fun getting out of the house in the mornings with Daddy, going to cool places like the park, the library, the grocery store, and Daddy’s work.

She's quite happy to nap in her crib by day, but at night she'd much rather be snuggled up with Mommy.

Photo Friday

It’s Friday, which means it’s time for more cute Lewis photos! This week has been all about things that Lewis can keep busy with while I sit on my butt near by, which has looked like a lot of playing out in front of our apartment with me observing from my lawn chair. Last weekend also included a lot of outside time, but Chris was home so Lewis got a bit more interaction.

The pool opened last weekend and even though we knew the water would be frigid Chris and Lewis decided to give it a try (while I sat in a comfy chair watching the action.) Lewis was rather cautious at first, but eventually decided he loved the water. He also found it rather fascinating that there were bugs in the water. He wanted to rescue all the live ones, and wanted daddy to swish away the dead ones. I joined them to watch (and take pictures) the first day they went, but when they decided to go again the next day I didn’t tag along. It sounds like they had even more fun that day though since they found some pool noodles to play with and Lewis even attempted some solo swimming while hanging on a noodle! I’ll probably send the two of them out again this weekend if the weather is warm enough, although the idea of a freezing cold swim isn’t quite appealing to me at the moment.

This is about as deep as they got on the first day. Lewis just wanted to go up and down the steps, and thought it was hilarious how his shorts kept filling with air that would then bubble out when he got back in.

I've been rather overheated this pregnancy and enjoying a lot of popsicles, which Lewis thinks is great. he eats them quite slowly though so ends up with melty drippy popsicle juice all over himself and the ground!

Happy springy Friday everyone! We’ve had a couple days of slightly cooler weather, but no rain yet except a bit in the nights so we’ve still been getting out to play very frequently! Lewis and our neighbor J have been having a lot of fun playing with chalk, squirty bottles of water, and squirt guns (squirting both the chalk and each other.) A few days ago Lewis and I also mixed up a batch of fizzy squirty sidewalk chalk paint. We took it outside to share with J and the two boys had an absolute blast. They first had a lot of fun squirting designs all over the sidewalk (and L all over himself. Thankfully after a quick scrub and a soak there were no stains in his shirt.) They were even more excited when I brought out the bottles of vinegar after the paint had all been squirted! This is definitely an activity we will be repeating in the future.

This weekend will also be a fun and busy one for us. Tomorrow is our little town celebration of Niskaday, which we have had a lot of fun with the past two years. We’ll go to the parade in the morning, and then head out soon after for the fair. Our main goals will be to get some tasty lunch and see the petting zoo. We’ll also explore whether Lewis is interested in trying any of the rides this year, and perhaps have fun watching the clown on stilts since that was one of Lewis’ favorite things last year. I’ll also try to get a peek around the craft booth, possibly while Chris and Lewis are off playing and exploring. Once we are done with Niskaday we are also looking forward to an overnight visit from a couple of friends. Lewis is very excited at the prospect of seeing Daddy and Aaron playing some video games (he’s hoping for Skylanders and Mario) and also is planning to show off some of his toys. 🙂

And here are your photos for the week!

Strawberries, bananas, Vanilla Wafers, and melted chocolate for dipping. This was originally planned as a Mother's Day treat but we were too busy eating other yummy things so Lewis and I enjoyed it together the next day.

Hello all! This week has gone by quickly (although the first few days felt slow) and very few pictures have been taken. Consequently most of these photos are all from one day, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing anyway. 🙂

Lewis and I both had a stomach bug at the start of the week. It hit me much harder than it did him which is good because I think taking care of a sick toddler may actually be worse than being sick yourself.

We’ve been enjoying more nice weather and once again spending as much time outdoors as possible. Lewis gets coated head to toe in mud at some point nearly every day, and he has also been enjoying the chance to play with his friend J in the evenings after he is home from school and Lewis’ nap time is done.

Happy Friday! I hope you all are well, and looking forward to a lovely Thanksgiving holiday next week spent with friends/family and yummy food! Chris has the week off, and we’re looking forward to traveling to my aunt’s house for some lovely time with the family. Also, pumpkin pie. Yum!

I’m bringing you a special edition of Photo Friday this week, featuring some of Lewis’ own expert photography! He has been very interested in stealing the camera recently, mostly enjoying turning it on. And off. And on. And off. And on. And pushing random buttons. But today I asked him to bring it to me and instead he decided to take a few photos of his own. Enjoy!

We moved the chairs out of the way to vacuum, and suddenly we had a choo-choo train! Lewis thought this was great and we have been playing at train all week.

Happy Halloween! No costume photos yet since we won’t be trick-or-treating until this evening, but lots of other pictures from a fun and busy week. Chris has finally made it through the recent craziness of deadlines and late work nights, and was able to take yesterday and today off work for a little extra family time. Yesterday we went to the park and carved pumpkins, today we had a bit of a lazy morning and are looking forward to trick-or-treating as a family later on. Lucky Lewis has already gotten a taste of candy today with treats from our rental office and the grocery store. He will be well sugared up by tonight!

Hello! You may have noticed the absence of a Photo Friday post last week. This is because we were on our way to my parent’s home in VT to celebrate my sister’s wedding! Hurray! It was a lovely weekend spent with family, and the wedding was beautiful and perfect. Congratulations Cyndie and Dave! Lewis did as well as can be expected from a two year old. He sat through most of the ceremony and then we stepped outside briefly, but came back in to see them walk out. He enjoyed all the food and said that his favorite part of the whole thing was the cake. 🙂

This week has gone by very quickly, I think because the weather has been so lovely and we are spending lots of time outdoors, although apparently not taking the camera along while we are out.
