My Tree-Loving Baby

As you can probably tell from my blog title and banner, I love trees. Chris enjoys nature too, though not with the same tree-affiliation as me. (We first met and got to know each other based on our mutual enjoyment of hiking.) I guess it should be no surprise that Lewis loves the outdoors too and seems especially interested in trees!

On our recent trips outside Lewis wants to go from tree to tree, feeling the bark and branches of each.

He first seemed to notice and focus on trees from his stroller a few months ago, looking up at the branches as we walked underneath. Now that he has gotten to see them up close and actually touch (and taste!) them, he is even more excited by them when seen from his stroller. When we are walking outside and he sees a tree he likes he will often do an excited little shout.

He found a dandelion while we were sitting by a tree. Not sure what was going through his little mind, but he repeatedly tried to give it to the tree or stick it onto the tree. He would put it on the tree and let go, then pick it up and try again when it fell to the ground.

The nature and tree love does not seem to extend to enjoying grass. He doesn’t mind sitting in the grass, and will feel it with his hands and sometimes try to pick it, but he does not want to crawl or walk on it!

"Why are you making me crawl to get to you on this horrible grass?! Pick me up!"
